Timelessly Elegant Stone House
The clients wanted to refresh the home they had built just over ten years ago, while also addressing a few functional challenges. The renovation was carried out in two phases, one floor at a time. The ground floor was completed first, and during the same phase an additional bedroom and WC were created.
The previously cold and echoing basement level was transformed into a luxurious and welcoming retreat with wall-to-wall carpeting, an acoustic stretch ceiling that softens sound, and carefully designed lighting, furniture, and textiles.
A stretch ceiling was also used upstairs. The entrance hall, which had previously extended to nearly two storeys in height and felt architecturally somewhat fragmented, was lowered to a standard ceiling height. This change clarified the space and made it significantly more cohesive and inviting.
The beautiful warm-toned herringbone parquet is highlighted beautifully in the open living areas. The existing fireplace was also redesigned, now finished with precisely measured and installed ceramic panels featuring an elegant marble pattern.
