Complete Renovation of a 1980s Semi-Detached Home
This semi-detached home, originally designed nearly 50 years ago, was passed on to a young family in a generational transition. The renovation was approached with a gentle touch, with the aim of preserving as much of the original character as possible. The striking terracotta-toned tile flooring in the entrance hall was therefore retained, as was the beautifully patinated and well-preserved parquet flooring on the ground floor.
The house underwent a comprehensive surface renovation: walls and ceilings were repainted, the upstairs parquet flooring was replaced, the staircase steps and built-in cabinetry were renewed, and the bathrooms and sauna were completely redesigned.
Timeless 120 × 120 cm tiles, elegant indirect lighting, and concealed showers create a luxurious yet welcoming atmosphere in the wet areas. A black slatted feature wall and a custom-made bench placed in front of it give purpose to the striking intermediate space with its skylight — a perfect spot to cool down between sauna sessions.
The spacious living room is crowned by a beautifully vibrant Oriental rug, which brings warmth, character, and a sense of inviting elegance to the space.
